2700ft high in the mountains surrounded with a beautifull forest and springs there lies the Kuni village a village full of folk tales. The Hanashiki hotspring is located in the center of this village. The hotspring is surrounded with nature such as Nozori-lake and Yoshiga-daira that will entertain you throughout the seasons. The Kuni village is also a treasure chest of dieties. There are 29 dieties placed all over the village, so taking a walk looking at these dieties is also another way to enjoy this village. The ancient traveling poer Wakayama Bokusui was drawn to this place because of its name "Hanashiki(Flowerbed)" and visited once. There is a bronze statue of him in the village.



Nozori-Lake
Located 4542ft in the mountains of the Joshinetsu National Park. The fresh air and low humidity make it a pleasant place to visit. During the summer it only gets to about 70F. The vegitation composed of 300 or more species surroundign the lake color the lake throughout the seasons. There are campsites and bungalos to make it an easy place to enjoy the outdoors.


Kuresaka-mountain pass
Mountain pass connecting Kosame to Sawatari hotsprings at an altitude of 3250ft. When the Taishou period poet Wakayama Bokusui traveled throught this passage we wrote the "Kareno no tabi"(Travel to Kareno) poem. This poem is engraved in a stone plate and there is a bronze statue of Bokusui along this mounain pass.



Myouzensugi pine tree
Approx. 380years old. Believed to be matured from a branch that the Soudou-su Ryutakuji temple nun Myouzen stuck into the ground upside down when opening the temple.
